Certified as CarbonNeutral
Doughty Hanson places significant importance on reducing its carbon footprint and has been working with the Carbon Trust (www.carbontrust.co.uk) since December 2006. The Firm was certified CarbonNeutral by The CarbonNeutral Company on 14 May 2007.
The Carbon Trust initially completed an audit for Doughty Hanson in January 2007 and made a number of recommendations, which the Company has implemented.
Where it is not possible to reduce or eliminate carbon emissions, the Firm offsets in order to achieve CarbonNeutral status. Doughty Hanson has chosen to offset using The CarbonNeutral Company, one of the world’s leading carbon offset and climate consulting businesses set up in the early 1990s.
The CarbonNeutral Company sources and supplies carbon offsets from worldwide technology and forestry projects. Its portfolio includes all types of offset (for example VER, CER), accredited to a range of standards (i.e. Gold Standard, VCS). Over the past decade, it has purchased credits from over 170 projects covering five continents and current projects range from an award-winning solar lighting system in rural India, to a large-scale wind farm in New Zealand.
