The Doughty Hanson Charitable Foundation was formed in May 2000, and has since supported a broad range of good causes including fighting poverty, disability and homelessness and promoting healthcare and education in all sections of society.

The Foundation generally supports individuals or smaller organisations and prefers to identify specific projects where we can see how our contribution has been applied.  A number of good causes supported this year were identified and sponsored by Doughty Hanson & Co employees and friends of the firm.

In 2007, 48 charities were supported. Highlights include:

• Supporting our investors, business partners and members of staff who undertook challenges in aid of various children’s charities in the UK and cancer charities in the UK and the US.
• Supporting a large number of charities in the UK who focus on helping children and teenagers in some of the most deprived areas.
• Supporting a centre for abused and ill-treated children in Milan and St Michael’s House that provides services for people with learning disabilities in Ireland.
• Purchasing equipment for the severely disabled, sponsoring disabled students for their studies, assisting the homeless and women suffering from domestic violence.
