Management team

Dick is the Chairman of Doughty Hanson, which he co-founded alongside Nigel Doughty, who sadly passed away in February 2012. He has overall responsibility for the Firm’s private equity investment strategy and is an investment committee member of Doughty Hanson’s private equity, real estate and technology ventures funds.

He started his career in finance at the London office of County Bank, the former merchant banking subsidiary of National Westminster Bank. In 1985 he joined Nigel Doughty as a founding member of the management buyout unit within the Specialist Financing Division of Standard Chartered Bank. In 1990 Dick and Nigel established CWB Partners, a private equity joint venture between Standard Chartered and Westdeutsche Landesbank. They spun out of CWB Partners to form Doughty Hanson as an independent firm.

Mr. Hanson has a Bachelor of Science degree (Hons) in Economics from the University of Southampton.

Richard joined Doughty Hanson in 2000 as Group Financial Controller before being appointed Chief Financial Officer in 2010.

Richard qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1989 before working as a manager in the trade finance division of Grant Thornton in Hong Kong and later as the Finance Director of a London-based independent fund manager.

He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Stephen joined Doughty Hanson in 2000 and is CEO and Head of Investor Relations. During his ten years at the firm Stephen has been responsible for raising Doughty Hanson Technology Ventures I and II, Doughty Hanson Real Estate II and the two most recent private equity funds, Doughty Hanson & Co IV and V.

In addition to his other responsibilities, Stephen sits on the Investment Committee of several of the Doughty Hanson & Co funds.

Before he joined Doughty Hanson, Stephen was a Managing Director of Investment Banking at Merrill Lynch where he worked for a total of 22 years.

Stephen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Northwestern University, an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Juris Doctor from Loyola University (Chicago).

Graeme joined Doughty Hanson in 1999 and is General Counsel. He also serves as the Firm's Compliance Officer.

Previously, he was Vice President and Group Senior Counsel of Invensys, a company formed following the merger of engineering conglomerate BTR with Siebe. Prior to the merger, Graeme was Head of BTR's European Legal Department and a key player in BTR's successful global divestment and acquisition programme. He has also worked as a solicitor with Simmons & Simmons and Simpson Curtis (now Pinsent Masons).

Graeme holds a degree in law from Brunel University.

Jennie joined Doughty Hanson in 2003 as Head of Human Resources.

Prior to joining Doughty Hanson, Jennie spent 13 years working for US and European investment banks including as Head of Human Resources for the equity team at BNP Paribas, European HR Director at FleetBoston and six years at Robertson Stephens International.

Jennie is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
