Royal Scandinavia

Royal Scandinavia

Royal Scandinavia was acquired by Fund I in September 2002 and sold in December 2004.

Royal Scandinavia was a mixed use redevelopment of the former premises of world-renowned porcelain and silver manufacturers Royal Copenhagen and Georg Jensen into modern office and residential space. Situated adjacent to the Frekriksberg Gardens, two kilometres west of Copenhagen city centre and close to the new Metro station, the site was an ideal environment for living and working within the city. The transaction was acquired by Doughty Hanson in a joint venture with the listed Danish real estate company Sjælsø Gruppen A/S.

During our ownership, Doughty Hanson redeveloped the site, leasing back 12,000 sqm of space to Royal Scandinavia and Georg Jensen and a substantial portion of the remaining space to Copenhagen Business School, and sold the apartments at values 35% higher than market comparables at the time of the acquisition.
