PRI
In June 2007 Doughty Hanson became the first private equity signatory to the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI). The voluntary principles provide a practical framework for incorporating environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues into mainstream investment decision-making and ownership practices.
As part of the firm’s commitment to these principles, Doughty Hanson has been actively involved in the creation of the PRI document “Responsible Investment in Private Equity: A guide for Limited Partners”. The guide sets out some of the unique characteristics of private equity investments and provides practical suggestions on how the principles can be applied to the asset class.
A member of the Doughty Hanson team sits on the PRI’s Private Equity Work Stream Steering Committee which promotes greater awareness of the role of responsible investment within the private equity asset class. Separately a member of our team also sits on the BVCA Responsible Investment Advisory Board and the EVCA ESG Task Force. Both of these committees are designed to promote greater awareness and help define responsible investment best practice within the asset class.
